Mission: The mission of Santa Maria Hostel is to empower women and their families to lead healthy, successful, productive and self-fulfilling lives.
Target demographics: Santa Maria’s target population is low-income, uninsured or indigent women age 18 and above from Harris and the surrounding 12 counties who may be pregnant or parenting in need of substance abuse treatment services, as well as women with co-occurring psychiatric disorders and women identified as homeless or those who may be veterans or ex-offenders, or have HIV/AIDS or disabilities.
Geographic areas served: Harris and the surrounding counties.
Programs: Santa Maria provides a continuum of care that includes substance abuse treatment designed for chemically-dependent women with residential stays of 30 to 180 days, as well as outpatient substance abuse treatment/aftercare services for up to 1 year. Integrated services for clients with co-occurring mental health disorders are provided, along with post-treatment follow-up services. Santa Maria also offers transitional sober-living housing with structured programming. Santa Maria provides and coordinates parenting classes for women to learn & practice strategies/skills; life skills training to assist clients in developing appropriate psycho-social skills, building self-esteem, and improving communication and self-awareness; educational and vocational services, including GED assistance, ESL and literacy education, job readiness and identification of employment opportunities; referrals to access medical/dental care, permanent housing, government-assistance programs/other community resources; case management services to address economic, employment, education, health, housing, and family needs, in addition to identified substance abuse and mental health issues; counseling to address family and abuse issues; and, childcare and transportation assistance, along with a host of additional supportive services to facilitate employment, education, program and referral goals.
