Programs: Saint lukes cancer institute (slci) is a 9 bed specialty hospital and one of the largest non-profit providers in the region dedicated to providing comprehensive cancer services that include prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment, research, education and supportive care. In 2012 there were 862 patient days and 28,648 outpatient visits. The hospital participates in the medicaid and medicare programs and has charity care policies for assisting people without adequate means to pay for their caresaint lukes cancer institute offers inpatient oncology care with an emphasis on the care of gynecologic oncology and leukemia/lymphoma patients; outpatient infusion services that include: chemotherapy, photophersis, therapeutic plasma exchange, and blood management; radiation therapy; specialized high dose radiation therapy; prostate brachytherapy; one of the largest gynecologic oncology program in the region; medical oncology program with physicians specializing in breast, colon and lung cancers; cell processing lab; cord blood programs; genetic counseling; pet scanning; cancer screening; comprehensive breast center; behavioral health specialist offering support to patients and families at no cost; community outreach and education. We provide the only mobile mammography program in the kansas city area, providing screening mammograms to uninsured and underinsured women in the kansas city metropolitan area. Slci also invests in the future of health care through research activities.
