Mission: Safe passage seeks to proactively serve the critical needs of camden, new jersey, by breaking cycles of poverty, stimulating economic development, and empowering families through technology innovation and education. Our mission is to foster self-sufficiency, teach wellness and create opportunity by developing innovative learners. By equipping individuals to be producers and not just consumers of technology, we envision going a step beyond access and exposure to technology resources. Providing the camden community with these resources will enlighten students, provide a knowledge base for more career options, and promote a better quality of life in the community.
Programs: Food pantry: recognizing that poverty and malnutrition are hinderances to academic achievement, every month over 50 families are provided nutritionally balanced meals to sustain them throughout the month.
"discovering innovation" is a project-, and problem-based learning program designed to challenge and engage the natural curiosity of middle school and high school students. The instructional units excite and motivate students to use their imaginations and teach them to be creative and innovative, while gaining the skills they need to develop, produce, and use products and services. The program appeals to a full range of students in grades 6 through 12 and relates technology to students' daily lives. It also promotes communication and collaboration by emphasizing a team approach throughout the instructional units. This approach utilizes the strengths of each team member to accomplish the goals of the project, while offering students learning challenges at all ability levels. The program is 6 months in duration consisting of modules involving safety, project management, project planning, robotics, programming, and engineering. Each school has the flexibility to decide which of the modules best meets their needs regarding course curriculum and standardized tests.
