Mandy was saved from a fate that is worse than death--she would have starved or been sent to slaughter had Safe Harbor Equine and Livestock Sanctuary not intervened and provided her sanctuary. At 32 years old, Mandy is active with children including those with special needs. She has a tender, gentle nature to her, and even the disabled with limited to no fine motor skills are able to work with her, feel her calmness and open-ness and feel save and loved. I give for Mandy and the other horses of Safe Harbor so that they can have the necessities they need for food, warmth, water, supplements and comfort. My $150 monthly sponsorship of one senior mare is creating a legacy. Her life was saved because I was willing and able to give for her, and she is paying it forward in the most precious way possible by providing therapeutic support and education to the youth in her community who need her. When you give well, it seems it is always returned to you, and every day that I see this amazing horse, I know that my gift to her and to Safe Harbor is giving back in a way that is far bigger than anyone could ever imagine. My gift to Mandy and Safe Harbor is lifelong, and Mandy's gifts will make a lasting impact for generations.
Review from #MyGivingStory
A no-kill sanctuary and rehoming organization for horses and other livestock. They took on a horse that another rescue organization deemed dangerous and wanted to euthanize. The horse was rideable in two sessions. Safe Harbor doesn't give up on animals; they really care, and follow up to make sure adoptions go well.
