Mission: Safe harbor seeks to reduce the trauma to children who are victims of abuse or neglect or witnesses to crimes by promoting the coordination of multi-disciplinary investigations, conducting forensic interviews in a child-friendly environment, and providing ongoing advocacy to affected children and families.
Programs: Safe harbor child advocacy center is a fully accredited member of the national children's alliance. Safe harbor provides a safe and friendly place for a child to talk about what has happened to them. A family advocate meets with caregivers while the child is being interviewed to address questions and concerns. Safe harbor also coordinates mental health services for children and families who have come to safe harbor. Safe harbor conducts about 300 interviews per year and has conducted over 3,000 interviews since opening in 1999.
