Mission: Sacramento Valley Historical Railways is a fellowship of volunteers who are dedicated to community service and education through the preservation and operation of historic railroad equipment and structures in the Sacramento Valley.
Programs:
This is a multi-phased project to restore an historic community asset in a redevelopment district for public use as a railroad history museum and event and meeting venue. It will promote local historical tourism and attract visitors to the historic downtown district.
Phase 1: Prevent demolition by relocating structure to property owned by the Sacramento Valley Historical Railways (Completed). Phase 2: Repair, restore and paint the exterior of the building (Completed). Phase 3: Restore baggage room and office (Completed). Phase 4: Install water, sewer, and gas lines to and in the building, restore restrooms historically and to meet ADA compliance (In progress). Phase 5: Install ADA compliant parking and additional walkways (Future project). Phase 6: Install HVAC systems (Future Project).
