Mission: Providing high-quality education for children in russian orphanages, aiming to eradicate prejudices against the children, providing a community living context for orphanage graduates to help them integrate into and add to society, and enabling the children to care for themselves.
Programs: Roof programs run in 3 orphanages and touch the lives of graduates from several more. With its traditional educational programs, roof teachers and volunteers provide a range of education from elementary school to high school and university level classes, as well as professional training. Other significant projects continuing this year include a 3-month long summer festival at belskoye-ustye, pskov oblast, aimed to integrate handicapped children from the local orphanage with the local population, winter camp activities for the children of tuchkov orphanage, our "abilitation center alternative housing program, aimed at preventing life-time institutionalization of the children from belskoye-ustye orphanage, which has grown gradually to incorporate a community-living option for graduates who will never live (or do not wish to live) entirely on their own. All told, roof programs are currently providing assistance to around 150 children in orphanages and dozens of orphanage graduates.
