in a project we called, land + sea, round earth media reported stories from baja california, mexico, where us business and local communities compete for space. The stories reached diverse audiences via important media outlets in mexico (includingel universal and proceso) and in the us. (including public radio programs marketplace and the world). Specifically, we focused on the environmental, economic, and political implications of undersea phosphate mining and overland commercial development along the baja shoreline. In addition round earth's editorial project focused on the destruction of historical buildings especially in ho chi minh city, published inusa today. Preservationists say developers and government officials are intent on making vietnam more modern and care little for the vestiges of its colonial past. But destroying so many historic buildings, they warn, makes the country less livable and less attractive to tourists - which could undercut economic growth the government hopes to foster.
