I am one of the remaining charter members of the Deerfield Valley Rotary. I joined and have stayed on all these years because I like giving money away and I don't have a lot of my own - Rotary lets me help raise money and then seeks out places to give it away.
I have been on the scholarship committee almost continuously since its inception. It feels phenomenal to hand someone a check, and know you have helped them continue their education. I hope to be able to do that for a long time to come.
I've also met some of my favorite people through Rotary. The group attracts people who are generous and community-minded by nature, and it is wonderful to connect.
I had the honor and the privilege of being a charter member of this Rotary club (and the honor of being its first president). I am so very proud of the work the club has done over the years, and I know the future is bright. I wish each member of the club a safe and joyous holiday season.
