I absolutely love volunteering at Rory Ridge. The owner and her daughter do amazing work. I have learned so much over the last few month, and i love being apart of every bit of it. It truly is amazing to be able to witness the progress these horses make after coming from horrible situations. These horses are all amazing and each one of them deserve a second chance at life. I will be the first to say i dont know everything there is to know about rescue or horses, but to watch them, learn about each one, bonding with them, to learn new things each day with them, it is so rewarding and i am so glad i became apart of it all.

Being a part of the world of equine rescue has been such an awakening. There are so many uplifting moments, and yet, many downfalls as well. As a fairly new advocate to the society of horse rescue, I have been challenged and have made many mistakes with decisions relating to horses saved over the past few months. This is due in most part to lack of knowledge and being led by others that I thought were doing right by horses saved and in their care. My assumptions were wrong and if I would have been more proactive in my thorough assessment during these incidents, I might not have as many tribulations. From the moment I met Tracey Piccola, the founder of Rory Ridge Rescue Inc, she has continuously guided me through her knowledge and expertise as a rescue.
Recently, Rory Ridge Rescue has taken in a horse which I was affiliated with in the initial bail a few months ago. Due to improper care at another facility, Rory Ridge Rescue opened their doors to this mare. Upon arriving, it was clear to Tracey that this horse had not been properly taken care of and immediately took the steps necessary to finding the medical and feeding protocols for her care. She was malnourished and had numerous health concerns which required several tests. Rory Ridge has an excellent medical team that works within this rescue and Tracey carefully takes in every bit of information needed before making a decision for these horses.
Her rescue is proactive with providing clear and necessary steps in rehabilitating a horse in need. Rory Ridge Rescues empathy and love is apparent in every way possible. This rescue provides up to date information and pictures of their horses’ progress and rehabilitation while in their care. In the rescue world, not only is the health of the horse important, but so is the rehabilitation and training to allow these horses to later be adopted out to families in the future. This rescue encompasses all aspects of this. Also, there is such an importance of reaching out to the community so they can be involved with what is going on within the rescue, and Tracey’s facility goes above and beyond trying to include outreach and awareness about what a horse rescue really endures on a daily basis.
Horse rescues are needed more than ever due to this tumultuous reality of the horse slaughter pipeline and neglect within our country. Not only to assist with horses, but to also bring awareness to the community and allow others to learn what entails in properly caring for a horse, and the expectations of horse care among others. Rory Ridge Rescue has been instrumental in supporting within the horse community and most importantly continues to be the voice of the many horses that need one in our country.

I've known Rory Ridge rescue for a short time and within that time I've noticed the horses are taken care of extremely well and that no matter how challenging the situation the horses are first priority.

This place is absolutely wonderful. It’s a second chance for horses. It’s a place that takes in run down/over used, unwanted, throw always and gives them a chance to really show what that can be.

Rory Ridge is an amazing refuge for horses who have been abused, neglected, or slaughter bound. Tracey personally ensures their care and safety come first and a horse isn't placed with a new home unless it's absolutely right. Tracey welcomes volunteers and trainers who want more experience, or if you simply want to be around some great horses. Love this place!

This is where animals are loved back to health, where they get the veterinary care they need, and experience a home that provides professional training, care, nutritional needs, and love, so horses heal from what ever bad experience they have had, and learn that the world is a good place again, and people are kind and not to be feared. Please adopt from this rescue. These are good horses who have had a bad experience, or have been in danger of being slaughtered, when they have lots of love to give and lots of years to share. Please adopt!
