Mission: Ronald mcdonald house charities of idaho operates the idaho ronald mcdonald house to provide a temporary home away from home for families of ill or injured children receiving treatment at boise medical facilities. In addition, the charity invests in community programs that support the health and wellbeing of children.
Programs: Ronald mcdonald house charities of idaho is a 19-bedroom facility that provided a temporary home away from home for 522 families with hospitalized children in 2017. Families came from across idaho, eastern oregon and northern nevada, california, colorado, florida, hawaii, kentucky, louisiana, montana, texas, utah, and were able to stay at the house during their child's medical treatment. The average length of stay was 9 days and over 78% of the families that used the house paid nothing out of their pocket for their stay. The remainder was a nominal $10 per day donation request, however no one is turned away if they are unable to pay. Additionally, we were able to assist 109 families of pediatric patients with food boxes to help reduce financial burdens.
hospitality cart program: in september 2017, a hospitality cart program was launched at two regional hospitals: saint alphonsus pediatrics and st. Luke's children's hospital. The carts are run by volunteers on wednesday and saturday. They are designed to serve families who wait for hours without leaving the hospital or their child's bedside. The carts bring parents a hot beverage and snack while keeping the little ones entertained with books, toys, and fun activities.
