We wanted to adopt an older dog. We reached out to this rescue group and applied for a certain dog we absolutely fell in love with. We have adopted dogs from other organizations with no problem. What I found odd was that Rock City Rescue would not give any health related information on the dog. When I persisted in asking, they stated that when they were done processing my application, I could speak to the dog’s foster parent. I replied that foster parents are not really qualified to answer these questions and I would rather speak to the dog’s vet. They angrily texted me back replying that they would tell the director to contact me with health information. Not 24 hours later, they contacted me saying they had denied our application. Something is off with this rescue group.
I am very happy with the experience I’ve had with Rock City Rescue. I live in Maine, and I just adopted a dog from this organization in Arkansas as I could not find the kind of dog I needed locally at the time I was looking. These people are awesome. They are so dedicated to helping rescue dogs, yes, but they also care for the rescued dogs and cats with love and care. The dog I got was “as advertised” completely and has been beautifully socialized. He was rescued at about 4 weeks, and his foster mother had him for 5 months until the right permanent home (me) came for him. Casey Carter, the director, actually drove him to Maine so I could have him—as part of a drop-off trip for multiple animals. These are dedicated, terrific people. This dog is my second rescue in 14 years. Both are smart, lovely dogs.
Rock City Rescue is an amazing organization, not only because of their mission to rescue animals from horrible conditions, but also because the people that work and volunteer for them are so nice and have huge hearts! We just adopted Hairy Pawter from RCR and he is such a sweet boy! The transport team was very professional and gave us plenty of updates during their long journey from Arkansas to Maine. Thank you RCR for our handsome pup and for dedicating your lives to saving all the innocent animals that deserve loving forever homes.
Rock City Rescue rescued Minnie's Pups--5 girls and one little boy named Uno. Uno lives up to his name, as he is our #1. Rock City created a private Facebook group so that I could keep up with Uno's 5 sisters, and it amazes me each day to see how much their personalities are alike. Central Arkansas pets are so much better off because of Rock City Rescue, and I am so thankful for their work!
We’ve adopted two beautiful pups from Rock City Rescue. They both came from very loving foster homes and it was evident in their friendly and lovable personalities. We had contact with the fosters before, during and after their gotcha day and still keep in touch through RCR Facebook groups. We’ve made friends with their siblings’ families and enjoy keeping touch with everyone through Rock City Rescue. These girls are loyal friends who have provided our family with lots of love, laughs and memories that our children can cherish throughout their lives. The people at Rock City Rescue are a joy to work with and we cannot thank them enough for rescuing our baby girls.
This summer we lost out beloved pug of 14 years and were completely heartbroken. Our family was in need of another dog to help us ease the pain of losing our loved one and we began a search during our vacation at the end of August. It didn't take long to find some adorable puppies that looked like just what needed. From the beginning their communication was constant, reliable and honest. We loved how thorough they were with our background check! They love dogs as much as we do. Once our background check was complete they immediately began the process of coordinating our Lily's transfer. Everything about the process was smooth and in-line with what dog lovers would hope for and expect. We, along with three other families, met the awesome delivery crew at the same time. The pups were well cared for from start to finish. We were so happy and confident in them every step of the way. We continue to keep in contact, not only with the foster parents, but also the rest of the litter's adoptive families. We have referred our family and friends to Rock City for their rescues. You will feel, immediately, the love for dogs that this organization has.
If I could leave a zero, I would. The process started nicely enough then went to all emails. A volunteer did not give adequate directions for the pick up point for the transport company so I asked which road. I asked for an alternate pick up point. I was told it was "on 1-95, near 46 and near 1-95. " Is this clear to you? Is it on 1-95 or NEAR 1-95? Because of my questions, they said "I WAS RUDE!!!!" ME! RUDE!! They just used this as an excuse to give the pup to someone else. They also denied me the first pup that I applied for. They can stick their idiotic southern ways up their idiotic southern butt holes. I feel bad for the animals.

We adopted our puppy from Rock City and the experience was great. Prompt, clear, and very helpful. I particularly appreciated being put in touch with the foster family to get info and insight before we even got to meet him. He's an adorable, very well socialized and happy puppy, and that's the best we can hope for all our furry friends.
Rock City Resuce saved my four legged best friend, and I am so grateful for all of their amazing efforts and hard work!! The fosters were incredible, and kept me updated on my pup until he was old enough to travel up to New England. He came healthy and happy, and was given a wonderful start thanks to the people from Rock City Rescue.
Hi everyone, I'm adopting a dog from Rock City Resuce and I have had a wonderful experience with them. Very respondent, professional, involved, and helpful. There hearts are in it 100%
I recommend them to the highest
Rock City Rescue is the best!! I've fostered for and adopted from this organization. I can tell you they put the animals best interest first, and make sure they are healthy, happy, well adjusted when put up for adoption. They also go above and beyond to make sure the animals are placed with the right family!-here's a photo of a few of my fosters
RCR helped us connect with a new addition to our family. All the staff I interacted with were very friendly and helpful. It is obvious they really care about the animals they are helping. If you are looking to adopt, I highly recommend them.
I had a fantastic experience with the adoption on dog! This organization obviously cares for the animals they rescue. I saw I dog I wanted on their website, emailed and asked for an application, received a phone call from someone asking questions about my home and my lifestyle, then they emailed me an application. They called all my references, including my past vet, and asked thoughtful questions to ensure I would give my dog an amazing home. I then received an email a few days later saying I was approved to adopt Molly. I was so excited! I was put in a Facebook message with the foster mom where we chatted about her and I received some photos. Then, we talked on the phone. I decided to continue with the adoption. Then, Casey and I talked about payment and how they would transport Molly to me since I am in the northeast part of the country and the dog was in Arkansas. All-in-all, it took a few weeks from start to finish but the process was smooth and everyone was professional. I would recommend this rescue to anyone!
We adopted from Rock City Rescue 2 years ago. We had just lost 2 dogs and the remaining one was so lonely. I saw a picture of a RCR puppy and said "that's my dog!" We had never adopted long distance but "that's my dog"! I contacted RCR and received an immediate email reply and a call from Casey the next day. The adoption process took about a week and Casey was very tolerant of all my frantic phone calls worrying that someone else would get "my dog". We met Casey, the foster family and "my dog" in Little Rock. We are grateful for all the care everyone took of our baby before she came to us. One of our neighbors has since adopted a RCR dog based on our experience and recommendation. RCR is a wonderful organization. The application process is thorough. This shows how hard Casey and her volunteers work to make sure each pet finds their PERFECT "fur-ever" home - not just placing pets with the first person who shows an interest. We highly recommend Casey and RCR!
So happy with our decision to go with Rock City Rescue!! The adoption process was very thorough--they seem to genuinely care for and make sure these animals are going to the best possible forever home. It's nice to know there are still good guys out there, taking care of those who can't care for themselves.
We have adopted two dogs about from Rock City and could not be happier. We adopted one, then the other about 3 months later. It took about a week each time. We appreciated that they have a process and interpreted it as truly caring where the animals end up. The trial period was nice as we wanted to make sure the dogs got along. We keep in touch with one foster mom and share pics. We would recommend this organization to anyone looking to adopt.
A co-worker told me about Rock City Rescue. I had been apprehensive to foster because I was afraid of getting too attached and turning into a crazy dog lady! I mulled over it for a couple of months and with the assurance and dedication to animal rescue of my co-worker, I decided to complete a foster application. I believe it was the best decision I've made in years. Our first foster, Yoda, was a failure! And by "failure", I mean we fell in love and adopted him! Yoda is now a member of our family pack and the perfect foster sibling welcome wagon. RCR has introduced me to like minded people and we all work together to get the best outcome for the animals!
I too wished to adopt from Rock City Rescue. Like some of the other experiences it started very professionally. Then two weeks went by without contact. As it is stated on their site to be patient they are busy I was. When I did reach out I received no response until I finally received an email saying I was not approved. They never checked any of my references. I personally feel things work out the way they should and that their is better match ahead for me, however I would not consider Rock City again as I think they are not professional and base decisions in a questionable way.
Well- so far my experience has not been very good. I adopted a dog I found on petfinder last year and it was a great experience. I dealt with the Circle L Ranch in Prescott, AZ. I was able to talk to them about the dog I was interested in before"qualifying" to adopt. I was able to find out if the dog was still available before filling out an application. With this organization I have to fill out the application before I can see if the dog I want is even available. I think that part of the process is offensive. I Would like to sign this Client Unserved!
Where to even begin. My partner and I were looking to adopt a puppy and one night we stumbled upon Rock City Rescue. We had never heard of it, but after further research we thought it seemed reputable ( not to mention we found a puppy we thought was adorable and a perfect fit for us), so we submitted an application to make him a part of our family. After submission, we received an immediate response from Rock City Rescue notifying us they received the application and would be in contact with us shortly. The next day we received a call asking if we had any questions and they provided us with their own references. We soon found out they contacted all three of our references, proving they truly care about the well-being and future care of their animals. Shortly thereafter, we were notified Marquis was going to become a member of our family! We were given information about his transportation to Connecticut and we were put in direct contact with his foster mom. Now two months after adopting Marquis we are so grateful to have him in our family - his foster parents cared for him deeply and that is apparent in their continued interest in his well-being and how well he has adjusted into our home. We cannot thank Rock City Rescue enough for the amazing puppy we can now call our own! Abby and Erinn
I have adopted 2 puppies from Rock City Rescue (a year apart from eachother) I have to say they have been the most wonderful rescue to work with. I was able to keep in touch with the foster parents while awaiting transport for the pups. I was kept up to date with the puppies progress and was sent pictures and cute stories from their day to day life. Casey is an incredible human being with a huge heart who goes above and beyond for these rescues. Just simply amazing!
I've fostered 5 dogs now for RCR and all I've had are good experiences. Casey is great to work with and is always willing it help make sure these dogs get into loving forever homes!
Staff in this charity just don't care.. they are very busy or just ignore, unlike other dog adoption centers. Their dog adopter selection process is also not transparent. I suspect they prefer people who give them donation, so first time dog owners do not stand a chance.
After the bad experience, I decided to leave behind all charity intentions in me and went and bought a dog from a dog breeder. I would not recommend these people for you next adoption.
Casey and crew were great! They answered all of our questions and kept us informed the entire time through the process. We adopted 2 unrelated dogs, and they did a meet and greet prior to make sure that they got along. Now they're home and acting like real brothers! They made the process really easy and enjoyable, and they keep in touch now and check in on us from time to time :)
I adopted Maggie from RCR last month. I am so happy to have Maggie. I have a lot of respect for this rescue they go far and above to help the animals. Thank you Casey!!!
We recently became a forever family to a precious puppy, thanks to Rock City Rescue. We became interested in her and were dealt with in a very timely manner. After being confirmed as adopters, we were able to be in contact with the foster family who gave us updates on our pup. I was very satisfied with the services provided.
We adopted a lovely little puppy named Dylan from Rock City Rescue and from start to finish the process was simple, information exchange was precise and the Staff are just wonderful... I have dealt with many non profit organizations in my life and this is clearly one of the best I have encountered... 5 STARS*****
I have worked with Rock City Rescue since the beginning. I have fostered for just about every rescue in my area and Rock City Rescue is the only rescue that provides holistic food for foster animals. They provide all supplies needed, crates, bedding, medications, toys, puppy pads, food, etc. I've really enjoyed my experience as a foster for Rock City Rescue. I am allowed to communicate with the adopters and have always been super pleased with the homes my foster animals have received and I enjoy receiving updates on my foster animals. All of the animals I've fostered have been completely vetted before adopted. I'm very proud to be a part of this rescue.
I have worked with RCR since it's beginning and have always been impressed by the commitment to the animals' care, treatment and placement. Each animal is thoroughly vetted, any health concerns addressed including expensive heartworm treatment, excellent food provided and every one spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Any homeless pet which lands in RCR's care has got a great life to look forward to.
I've been trying to adopt a service dog for nearly 3 years. Rock City Rescue came through BIGTIME. They took special care to match me up with THE PERFECT candidate. They truly care about the animals they save and you can tell want them to go to good homes. My fur baby had only been with me an hour and already I feel so much calmer and loved/protected. They provide you with all the information/references you'll need from vets to trainers to their favorite toys. Lol I feel blessed to have been matched with Chester. Even though there is a 2 week trial before the adoption is finalized, I know that we will be friends for life. :)
By chance I received an email from Purina and a cute little white face of a Shih Tzu caught my eye. I was not looking for a dog as we had to put our 16 year old German Shorthair down but there was something that drew me to this dog. I contacted CASEY at Rock City Rescue but was hesitant when I found out the pups were in Arkansas and I am in New Jersey. Did not want to deal with a puppy mill. Well she sent me a 5 page application, called all of my references and my Vet and once approved we talked at length about my dog, who was at a foster home with siblings, and about the transport who would bring her to me. It was so exciting and scary not getting to meet my pup ahead of time but that snowy December day the transport posted photos of all the dogs and when it pulled up all of the adopters ran to the bus. I got to see all three of her family and then she was put in my arms. Thank you Rock City as this cute little white Shih Tzu has brought so much love to our family and was meant to be! You are a wonderful organization and I highly recommend to every one I know!
We recently had to put our dog down suddenly. Our family was devastated..and heartbroken. Our vet had suggested we consider adopting/rescue another dog. Although we felt guilty since it was so soon but our vet was right. Maddy would have wanted us to love another dog and even though it would never replace her it would help our family. We went on petfinder and immediatley knew a new dog/puppy was the best medicine for our families broken heart. We began to search and a adorable litter of puppies from Arkansas fell on our radar. We immediately filled out our application with Rock City Rescue. We received a call from Casey that we were chosen to adopt! After speaking we waited as they checked out out references. Soon after we were told that Jersey was ours and she was coming to New Jersey to her new family! Rock City was amazing and put us in touch with her foster mom..she also was amazing and sent us photos and videos of our new baby! It is very evident they truly care and want to find good homes for these animals. We can't thank them enough for their, time, dedication, and love. Jersey, her siblings and mother were rescued and because of all there hard work she is doing amazing. She is the sweetest dog and has so much love to give. It is evident from all the love they have shown her she just melts your heart with her sweet face. Thanks Rock City for all you do and for letting us be Jersey's family!
Rock City Rescue Rocks!! They work hard to find so many dogs, forever homes! Thank you, for helping me find my new puppy Montana. I couldn't be happier!
Rock City Rescue is an amazing organization. I adopted my puppy River from them and the whole process was seamless. They put in a lot of effort checking references and talking to my vet to make sure he was going to a good loving home. I was informed about what River liked and was used to. I was even pleasantly surprised when he was sent with food a collar and a leash. The foster mom he had put in a lot of effort which is evident in his behavior at only 10 weeks old. They are an amazing organization that goes above and beyond for their four legged friends.
We recently adopted our dog through Rock City Rescue and we couldn't be happier. Our new dog is the best thing that has happened to us!! Casey was great- she made the process so easy! She was very efficient, knowledgable and personable. We would highly recommend adopting a dog through Rock City Rescue!!
Our experience with Rock City Rescue, especially the Love of Casey, and Renata and Mike, was truely awesome. The entire process, all contact, and care shown by Rock City to my family, especially Carolina (Bailey) was simply perfect.
What an kind, well cared for puppy! She will only ever have known Love. We love her and We know Rock City does.
