Roanoke Area Ministries offers lunch every day of the year as well as giving the homeless in Roanoke a place to be safe, dry and warm during the day. They also provide financial assistance for utility bills, rent and medicines. The clients are kind and appreciative and just need a little help and love to keep going. The staff is efficient, caring and kind. I have been volunteering with RAM for three years and being there each week keeps my life in perspective. Watching a young pregnant woman come for lunch with no shoes makes anything I'm going through insignificant.

Programs: The r. A. M. Effort is an ecumenical and cooperative one. R. A. M. Receives funds, clothing, and food from the city of roanoke, roanoke county, botetourt county, churches, individuals, civic and religious gr0ups, and foundations, and distributes the funds, etc. To needy people who have been referred to the emergency outreach centers by welfare departments, other social agencies, ministries, schools and police.
in 1987, r. A. M. House was established as a comprehensive day shelter/ soup kitchen designed to provide shelter and a noon-day meal for homeless men, women, and children.
