RIEEA is resource-rich network association truly dedicated to growing environmental literacy through advocacy, professional development and sharing of best practices. RIEEA events provide opportunities for Rhode Island-based environmental educators to connect with one another, as well as with educators and the general public. RIEEA maintains a well-organized website which provides educators, administrators, parents and students with a comprehensive list of membership organizations, their numerous learning opportunities, online educational resources and so much more.
RIEEA is a shining example of how an organization can grow and adapt, while lighting the way for other environmental and outdoor education organizations to follow. RIEEA leads by example and is willing to change and learn from the people and communities they serve. They offer many kinds of educational opportunities to their members, and are very committed to reaching and welcoming anyone and everyone who is interested. I have been fortunate to learn and grow with this great RIEEA community through workshops, though special events like the Annual Summit, through working on committees and through the support of RIEEA's staff and board. I encourage everyone to discover how you might get involved and benefit from RIEEA's amazing community network! :)
RIEEA hosts great workshops and they offer a valuable online community to connect with by sharing opportunities, events, and job openings with the environmental education community. They are inclusive and they walk the talk. I'm proud to be affiliated with them!
RIEEA is made up of an amazing group of commitment individuals who provide high-quality environmental education programming through their own organizations but also come together, giving of their time and talents, to advance environmental literacy for all citizens of our great state. Through regular meetings, workshops, trainings, professional development opportunities, events, and special projects, RIEEA brings people together and makes a real difference. A major project that is currently underway is RIEEA's Assessment of Environmental Literacy (AEL)--a first-of-its-kind effort to measure environmental literacy in Rhode Island students. You'd be hard-pressed to find a group of people who are more selfless, dedicated, and caring than everyone at RIEEA!
Can I add an extra star? RIEEA is a strong support network for established environmental education organizations, fledgling organizations, higher education, individuals, and more. In addition, RIEEA links people in the smallest state with other affiliates of the North American Association for Environmental Education, multiplying access to research, resources, and community of practice. All in all, this is a welcoming, effective group of passionate people where everyone is invited to the table.
