Causes: Human Service Organizations, Human Services
Mission: Founded in 2020, Retake is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that offers free photos and photoshoots to people who have lost their homes and belongings due to disasters or to people who come from war-torn countries and are now refugees, immigrants, migrants, or displaced people. We create unique new keepsakes as they rebuild their lives.
Results: In 2021, we photographed 114 people. In 2022, we photographed 358 people. We photographed refugees, migrants, asylum seekers, and survivors of disaster. The families we worked with originated from the following countries: Afghanistan, the DRC, Burundi, Syria, Ukraine, Vietnam, Colombia, Honduras, Guatemala, Mexico, India, Nigeria, Burma/Myanmar, Eritrea, Venezuela, Sudan, El Salvador, Haiti, and USA.
Target demographics: People who have survived disasters or who come from conflict areas.
Direct beneficiaries per year: 358 people and 62 families
Geographic areas served: Global. We work wherever natural disasters occur or where refugees are relocated.
Programs: Photoshoots to survivors. We give them new keepsakes as they rebuild their lives.
