Mission: The rescue mission of utica is a faith-based not-for-profit organization. Our mission is: the rescue mission utica is a christian ministry unconditionally endeavoring to assess and meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of people coming for assistance. For over 126 years, the rescue mission has grown in its ability to supply residency-based programs aimed at: breaking the cycle of drug and alcohol dependency, housing homeless men, teaching life skills and providing residents with supportive and aftercare services so that they can learn vocational skills and obtain and maintain long-term, sustained independence. The rescue mission of utica provides a wide array of services and housing to the homeless, the mentally ill, those struggling with addictions seeking to reestablish themselves in and to contribute to society. It is the largest provider of such services between syracuse and schenectady.
Programs: Enriched living center: offers long-term residential accommodations and supportive services to 52 moderately and chronically mentally disabled men and women who, at times, were homeless themselves. Staffed 24 hours-a-day, major services include: medication management, transportation, health care needs, advocacy, skill training, crisis intervention, education and support. In 2017, the enriched living center (elc) provided 18,499 nights of care.
addiction crisis center: a 20-bed ny state certified care facility for men and women addicted to alcohol and other drugs who are at risk of homelessness. In 2017, 7,083 days of care were provided to 703 men and women. Included in this care are: safe shelter, nourishment, medical attention, counseling, assessment, evaluation and referrals. In may of 2017, acc transitioned from a medically monitored treatment facility to a stabilization program where more mental health and medical services are now provided to patients.
representative-payee program: : in 2017, this program assisted 763 unique individuals who are unable to manage their own finances. Account managers provide money management, budgeting assistance, help with living skills, advocacy and life management. This vital program helps prevent people from becoming homeless.
