Causes: Human Services, Victims Services
Mission: Rescue: freedom exists to rescue victims of human trafficking, to provide holistic aftercare services, and to prevent the growing travesty of exploitation. Created to empower local efforts with international support and expertise, we support a growing network of service providers in seven countries who are familiar with the culture within which victims live. By mobilizing resources, knowledge, and funding, we work together to restore lives broken by sexual slavery through programs such as night shelters, safe houses, medical clinics, and vocational training. Our founders began 20 years ago in mumbai when they began working with a local partner to rescue women and children in sexual slavery. Years of experience have helped us become a trusted source of knowledge and expertise in caring for victims of human trafficking. Last year, rescue: freedom and our partners provided support to over 19,000 women and children in the u. S. , india, nepal, bangladesh, spain, moldova, and tajikistan.
Programs: Rescue:freedom currently operates in 7 countries (including the us) through a network of 14 partner sites where women and children are brought through a process of holistic care that begins while they are still in the red light districts in outreach centers and continues after they have been rescued and are residing in safe houses. Women, who have been rescued from trafficking, and their children are given healthcare, counseling, spiritual care, education and job skills so they can pursue a new life. In addition, rescue:freedom actively combats and prevents sex trafficking through training, advocacy and curriculum development conducted throughout the world.
