Several years ago I had the good fortune of finding GGB through a site called Volunteer Match. I had volunteered for other non profit organizations but needed to find something with more
flexibility due to my new role as a Mom. I've watched this organization grow and change and while I am not currently involved with them, I can only say positive things about them. I've had the opportunity to work with them in various capacities; everything from fundraising events to hands-on renovations. Teresa has always been great about letting me try different roles within the organization.
The tribe of people that she has supporting her mission is quite impressive and speaks volumes about her as a person. What I appreciate the most about her is her tenacity. This woman never gives up. She's living proof that if there is a will, there is a way! To anyone looking for a way to support their community (weather it be through donations or time), I HIGHLY recommend GGB!
I loved being part of the GGB team, they made me feel welcome and really gave me opportunities to learn and take on portions of the project that I felt comfortable with, I was also able to share my own story with the group and relate. The projects at the shelters are so heartfelt and the families that are impacted came and thanked us for the work we were doing to make their environment at the shelter the best it could be. The youth that create the art for the walls of the shelter unit were incredible. Its nice to be part of an organization that brings the community together and is consistent in the quality of the work they do and wow, what they do makes a huge difference in these shelters.
