Causes: Mental Health, Substance Abuse Prevention
Mission: Charitable, religious, educational and scientific activities. Mission statement: we are a community campaign geared toward turning around the substance abuse problem by bringing community awareness, providing preventive education, and guiding youth into living healthy and productive lives.
Programs: The coalition is contracted with the tn department of mental health and substance abuse services, and implements evidence-based strategies for alcohol, tobacco and non-medical use of prescription medications. As jefferson county, tn's substance abuse coalition, rescue 180 implements evidence-based strategies for the whole population (53,804). As an example of accomplishments (in collaborations with other organizations), jefferson county went from having 40% of adults who smoked in 2010, to 26% in 2015, and 21% in 2016.
