Mission: Renown health makes a genuine difference in the health and well-being of the people and communities we serve.
Programs: See schedule orenown health foundation pairs donor support with the community's most vital needs. Started in 1985, gifts to the foundation make it possible for renown to acquire state-of-the-art equipment, conduct important medical research, ensure that we have skilled clinical staff and provide community health and education programs. The foundation also maintains a patient assistance fund to help reduce some of the barriers of accessing healthcare. One of the most recent projects led by renown health foundation was the remodel and expansion of the renown children's hospital infusion services. Opening in 2018, children's infusion services will allow many of the area's sickest children to stay in our community instead of traveling out of northern nevada for specialized treatment. Renown children's hospital is the region's only hospital affiliated with children's miracle network hospitals (cmnh) and is also a member of the children's hospitals association (cha). This alliance of hospitals ensures children have the care they need and deserve. It also guarantees that funds raised in the community stay in the community to provide care for local children. In addition to supporting renown children's hospital, funds from the foundation also benefit renown institute for cancer, renown institute for heart and vascular health and renown institute for neurosciences. The foundation also has partnerships/memberships with many non-profit organizations in the community. Here are just a few: university of nevada reno school of medicine, desert research institute, association of fundraising professionals, washoe county school district, march of dimes, city of reno arts and culture, nevada arts council, sierra arts foundation and the reno chamber orchestra among others. Currently renown health foundation is leading the charge to fund a ground breaking study known as the healthy nevada project. Started in 2016, the healthy nevada project is enrolling 50,000 participants who donate a sample of their dna to the renown institute for health innovation. This study aims to help us understand how the environment and our genetics combine to influence our health. Additionally, renown health foundation is working to fund support services that will address critical behavioral health and addiction issues in northern nevada and supports the renown hospice program which offers a special way of caring for patients and families facing end of life issues. For the fiscal year ending june 30, 2017, renown health foundation, along with its parent, renown health and its subsidiaries, provided more than $118 million in benefit to the community (using community benefit numbers gathered by the nevada hospital association using state-approved criteria to ensure consistency).
