Mission: Assisting victims and survivors of violent crime and working to prevent violence.
Programs: Regional victim crisis center (rvcc) operates two programs: victim assistance and violence prevention. In 2017 the rvcc victim assistance programs provided professional counseling and other victim assistance services to 1,600 victims, including 780 child victims, of sexual assault and other violence. Most of those violent incidents occurred in abilene/taylor county. Rvcc also serves coleman, callahan, jones, haskell, and shackelford counties in texas. Rvccs violence prevention program works to prevent sexual assault and other violence. The rvcc prevention team taught evidence-based curricula to 18,000 children and young people in abilene/taylor county in 2017 and provided training for 3,500 professionals on how to recognize, report and properly react to child sex abuse victims.
