Mission: Support to ministires in honduras and in other locations that provide support and assistance to children and their families. Refuge international operates a resource center, mission point resource center, in catacamas, olancho, that provides educational and teaching material to parents and teachers. During 2016 we have responded to several ministry opportunities in the us. Most of these have been individual instances with the exception of support to an outreach ministry in autaugaville, alabama, a community with many at risk children. Programs there have included offering ged classes, and tutoring assistance to school age kids. In addition, we fund a program in honduras called beca - which is a scholarship program which supports children to go to public schools with stipends which range from $20 to $75 per month. In 2016 we supported 19 young people. Also in 2016 we added three feeding programs for children, which provide two meals per week to approximately 100 children.
Programs: In 2017 support continued to mission point resource center in catacamas, olancho. Providing training in ethics, teacher training, computer proficiency, and church leadership to families in approximately 60 congregation in eastern honduras. Approximately 8 teacher groups have been trained and approximately 35 students have received a 13 week computer literacy course. Also during 2017 we have responded again to several ministry opportunities in the us. Most of these have been individual instances with the exception of support to an outreach ministry in autaugaville, alabama, a community with many at risk children. Programs there have included offering ged classes, and tutoring assistance to school age kids. In honduras, we continued a beca program, which provides stipends to twentythree children allowing them to continue in public school. We also have feeding programs in three communities - tegucigalpa, lamansion, and jutiquile. Trough these programs approximately 100 youngsters and a small number of older people are provided two meals per week.
