I work at Sycamore Elementary school and the Redding Breakfast Lions have been the biggest blessing to this school. They have selflessly given financially, with their time, and hard work. Always with a smile too! They have made this school a better place for children to grow and learn. The Breakfast Lions have painted, decorated, constructed, etc. They go above and beyond. I have never seen such a dedicated group, and they are appreciated. Thank you Redding Breakfast Lions!

In 1981, I had been in Redding for 2 years and was starting my new business. A nice guy I had met through my business ask if I would like to go to breakfast Thursday morning to a “Lions Club” meeting. My only experience with the “Lions Club” was going to the Lions Drag Strip on Saturday night in Wilmington, CA in the 60s and 70s. I had no idea what that breakfast would lead to.
Over the years our many projects varied but all had the same goal: helping others in our community in order to make a build a better community for all.
The satisfaction of giving one’s time and effort for the betterment of others cannot be measured. The friendships I have formed with other club members and individuals we have worked with has been a priceless reward.

I am a teacher at Sycamore Elementary School. The Redding Breakfast Lions Club has helped this school in many ways by donating time, money and unique and special skills. First of all, the club offers free eye screenings for young students. In my class alone I had four students who were found to need a referral for an eye exam. The club members that were at school for the screenings did an excellent job at making my students feel relaxed and comfortable through the process. In addition, the club has painted games on the playground, cooked at school functions and used their carpentry skills to help re-purpose and build a special sensory room on campus called PALZ to help those students who need extra help to learn to self regulate. This group has truly made an impact on the lives of many students in this community.

As an employee at Sycamore Elementary School, I have had the great pleasure to meet a few of the Lion's members who have worked at our site. The PALZ room looks absolutely amazing. It has been a blessing seeing these wonderful people on campus helping out in other ways as well, to support our Sycamore students and staff. I want to say thank you to the Lion's members for being a special part of our school and for all of your efforts past, present and future.

I joined the Redding Breakfast Lions Club about one year and nine months ago.
I have to say it's the best service club I have ever been a member of. The club has a lot of events we do for the community of Redding and Shasta county.
I have been fortunate to be a part of the vision testing team. The team goes to different schools in Redding and tests the vision of students. We also have a lot of other programs that we are able to do with the funds we receive from the community to assist us with the projects we do.
It is a good feeling being able to help the community this way.

I am a teacher at Sycamore School. I want to thank the outstanding members of this organization. They have provided services, materials and manpower that our students desperately need. These selfless gifts have provided students with opportunities and events that would not be possible otherwise. And the volunteers are such amazing role models! They are patient, kind and friendly whether they are working with students, manning the Santa Shop or serving at our Open House BBQ.

As President of this club for the past nine months, I've had the pleasure to see first hand the impact we have on our community through our volunteer efforts.
Our computerized vision screening program helps our area school nurses preform and record their students testing results in a fraction of the time it would take if not for our special vision camera and our trained volunteer members there to assist.
It's especially rewarding to visit Sycamore Elementary School and see at risk students progress through the PALS room and how that program re-directs their disruptive behavior in to positive life skills. These kids learn to become an active part of the solution instead of a disruptive part of the problem.
The friendships developed within our club while giving back to our community is priceless!

I've only been a member of the Redding Breakfast Lion's since December and during that time I have become part of this close knit family that cares for the well being of the community. I'm excited to work different functions not only to benefit the community but enjoy the commradery of the club. This is a great group!

I've been a member of this group for 30 years now and I am not a joiner of groups. This is a tight knit group of frisky individuals that get involved in fundraising and lending a hand. They give 100% of the money they make to worthwhile efforts aimed at making our community a better place to live. What's really great is they have a lot of fun doing it.
