I am a board member and volunteer. I help train adults with special needs to work in the community. It is so exciting to see the difference Reclamation Station has made in the lives of these people. They are each gaining confidence in themselves and are proud to have a job in the community instead of in a workshop. They are learning the process of recycling and learning all about going green.

I have been a fan of the Canton Reclamation Station since it opened. Before, I drove my recyclables to Tyler, 35 miles from here. This is a unique project which employes adults with challenges of various kinds who otherwise would not be employed. There is a thrift store and organic produce is also grown and sold. A variety of educational opportunities for the community include organic gardening, use of native plants, conservation and harvesting of rainwater, to just name a few. REcently, Reclamation Station was named the Business of the Year for 2010 by the Canton Chamber of Commerce.

Reclamation Station is the greenest non profit in Texas! They recycle millions of pounds of cardboard, paper, tin, aluminum, etc. They also grow organic plants/vegetables in their greenhouses, operate 2 thrift shops, and educate thousands on environmental issues- air, water, solid waste, organics and more. All with only 8 part-time employes (disabled adults!)
