Such an incredible organization!

I’d NEVER commented or posted about anything in LinkedIn until becoming involved with RTNTX. But the passion that this team has for truly transforming individuals and communities drove me to get busy sharing so others could be inspired to take action as well.

They genuinely live out their mission to repair homes and rebuild lives in North Texas.

Thank y’all kindly!

I joined the Board of Directors for Rebuilding Together North Texas after thorough research and evaluation of other non-profit organizations.

The reason I was drawn to this organization is because of their ability to strongly and positively impact the community where I grew up. The mission is critical and the needs are very large but the entire staff is committed to providing necessary home repairs to our recipients.

I’m thankful to have played a very small part in the organization’s success and look forward to further growth and positively impacting more families.

Rebuilding Together has been part of my life for about seven years now. I am on the board of directors and we are better situated now than ever before. We have a full board 15 Members! And they are dedicated to the amazing work we do in the DFW area, supporting veterans and seniors. Each family we help is so deserving of a leg up. Our staff is amazing and our executive director is truly the reason we make as much headway as we do. She is very committed to the cause. I am amazed at every project to see the huge impact we make on our family’s lives. We do everything from repairing a broken windows to replacing a roof and everything in between! We even replace HVAC. Our families are so deserving of our help.

Pause for a moment and think about those less fortunate than many of us. Those folks with disabilities, health & financial issues and other life impediments that prevent them from being able to take care of their homes and looking for help in the maintenance of those homes. Rebuilding Together North Texas (RTNT), founded in 2001 by Bob Moisan, is a non-profit organization whose sole purpose is addressing these needs. Since it's inception, as a former board member, house captain and overall volunteer I have seen countless homeowners benefit from the dedication and hard work of this vital group. One homeowner in particular, I believe, expressed the feelings of many. Her name is Hattie and many years ago I was a house captain for her home. Among the many things we updated/repaired to Hattie's bathroom and kitchen and after painting the whole interior was an old glass door knob to her bathroom that had fallen off, long lost, and replaced with a large nail. I was fortunate enough to find a replacement with the same glass knob. When the project was complete and after all of the improvements we did to Hattie's home the one thing she appreciated the most was that door knob - "I don't have to turn that rusty nail anymore". This is the reason I continue (God willing) to donate my time (and some treasure) to Rebuilding Together North Texas. As Winston Churchill said - "We make a living by what we do, but we make a life by what we give". I hope you will consider a donation of your time, talent or treasure to this much needed organization.

I’ve volunteered for RTNTX events and have operated as a board member. The events are well organized and I definitely feel a great sense of pride in the end result. The people that we help are already productive members of society but have just had a tough run of luck. They are looking for help and we’re there to provide them with a renewed sense of perseverance to continue to fight for their family and what they’ve built. I’m very proud to be a board member of RTNTX

The organization is passionate about what they do for the community. The work they do is extremely important especially in an economic climate like today, the homeowners they help either don't have the ability or means to make the repairs to their homes to live in safely. I have volunteered with RTNTX for a couple years and recently decided to join the board of directors. I love the mission, critical home repairs provide a long term change to a person's life. Helping a neighbor in the community go from having plumbing issues or a leaky roof to someplace that they feel safe living in makes me feel like I've accomplished something really good for the week.

I cannot thank this group enough for the help I was given. My husband and I had always done the work around the house ourselves, but he had cancer and I was worn out taking care of him. Rebuilding together did some much needed work in my backyard, setting me up to have a more peaceful and beautiful space. Then they arranged to have a big plumbing issue resolved that was making it impossible for me to do laundry at home or use the kitchen sink. It was an expense I could not take on. And now that the plumbing is fixed, I at least do not have that stress.
My husband passed away in April so I've been working on a memorial garden in the space where Rebuilding together removed an old shed. It's a work in progress but gives me a way to remember him.
The group who came to help were so respectful and nice. The organization of the entire process was amazing. I even had one of the ladies come back later with plants from her own garden to add to mine!
Thank you Rebuilding Together for being the help that was there just when I needed it.

This volunteer (painting a house for an elderly woman) opportunity was the single most enjoyable time I have ever had. It didn't matter that it was hot outside, or that some of us were scared to climb the ladder to paint the tallest parts of the home. What we all witnessed was people from all departments, all walks of life come together put our differences aside to assist someone (which we didn't know until the very end when all the work was complete who we were helping) with something they couldn't physically take care of themselves. As a community it is easy sometimes to forget the elderly or disabled neighbors we have, since the traditional greeting of new neighbors and keeping those relationships is a thing of the past.
However, when you volunteer on a task like this one it really hits home. I was so grateful to be apart of and will continue to volunteer on events like this. It was eye opening, humbling, and brought me much pride to be part of. Thank you I truly hope that we keep this volunteer opportunity open forever.

Definitely a place where they can use anyone who is willing. No experience required, other than an open mind and heart and willing to assist. This organization has it down. They provide head volunteers to manage the job and then everyone else just falls in line to help. Its pretty simple. The best part is that you become a part of something special, whether it's painting someone's house that is disabled, or making repairs because a less fortunate person could afford to do so. No matter what, you are important here. Whether you have little time to give, or a big heart to donate, it does not go un-noticed. Anytime there is a need and I am available, this is one of my favorite places to donate my time.

Rebuilding North Texas came into my life slowly. I started as a volunteer through my employer and even though I often felt like I had so little skills, they showed they valued my time and efforts. I continued volunteering and meeting home owners and at one point, it really clicked for me. I could see that the home owners that RTNT serves are at once vulnerable and yet so powerful. They are vulnerable in that they do not have the means to bring their homes up to minimal standards but they are powerful in that they took the steps to seek help and work through the process which can be arduous. The home owners are so thankful for the improvements, both big and small, that RTNT provides. It is truly inspiring to be part of RTNT projects.

Now I serve as VP on the Board of Directors. I’ve been on the board 2 years and I can tell you, this organization is passionate about helping the community. We have had a very strange and tough year with CV19 and in spite of that, the executive director and the operations director have made massive improvements in the way we operate. Where others may have take a break, these inspirational leaders exploited the gap as a time to automate and embrace the digital world. We will come out of CV19 much better positioned to help our homeowners.

Their mission has always been to help Veterans, Seniors, and the Disabled with housing repairs to make their lives easier. There have been several projects at elementary schools in low income areas and with yard clean-up, tree trimming, and painting house numbers on curbs for entire streets in low income areas. I first got involved with Rebuilding Together Greater Dallas several years ago when a relative told me about the great work that Rebuilding Together Greater Dallas was doing and invited me to volunteer at an upcoming project. I was blown away by how committed the RTGD team and volunteers were to helping some of the most impoverished and vulnerable members of our community. We served impoverished disabled seniors, some of whom were veterans. They lived in some of the worst housing conditions I have ever seen, but the Rebuilding Together Greater Dallas team and volunteers completely remodeled these houses restoring safety and dignity to their owners. I was on the team that built a new fence, and we were taught how to do all relevant tasks. I felt that our work was meaningful, and even though I didn't have so much experience with this type of home repair, the Rebuilding Together team taught us and supervised us and made my volunteering experience meaningful and substantive. If you are looking for a Dallas-area non-profit to volunteer at, this is the one! 10/10

My journey with RT started when i was asked to participate in an event centered around the Superbowl in 2011. I met a woman who had never had a heating system in her home. She would use space heaters, oven, and in the wall heaters to warm her house. i am in the HVAC business and we installed a complete system in her home(at no cost). She was so appreciative, and i was so happy to help. It really impacted me and i was "hooked". no other agency in our area provides no cost home repairs. I am now a Board member.

I've participated in many volunteer events with Rebuilding Together Greater Dallas. They have done such great work for less-fortunate individuals, families, and schools. A lot of their projects are for the elderly and disabled (often veterans) with homes in desperate need of repair (holes in the floor, broken appliances such as refrigerators or even toilets, and more) or improvements on handicap accessibility so that the occupants/clients can safely get in an out of the house (especially in case of a fire), use the restroom, and do other necessary daily activities. Rebuilding Together's work has significantly improved the lives of many, and every year they are able to work on more projects than the year, further improving the lives of many more disadvantaged people in the greater Dallas area.

I walked up to the tent on a volunteer build day, not really sure what to expect. I brought a pair of work gloves with me and was greeted by a friendly group of volunteers who got me checked in, offered some coffee and donuts, and told me of my team assignment for the day. We quickly had a safety meeting, which reminded me to be on the lookout for poison ivy! I worked on a house both inside and outside. Our house captain had a group clearing the yard of overgrown vegetation and debris, while another group was removing carpet and vinyl flooring inside. Everything was organized, all the materials we needed were at the house, there were drinks and snacks available, and it was great to meet the homeowner. She was so sweet and frail in her wheelchair and her appreciation just made the day so rewarding. I would definitely volunteer with this group again... and bring my friends also. I appreciate that they gave me a t-shirt and I'm proud to wear it and tell people about Rebuilding Together.
