Nonprofit Overview
Causes: Children & Youth, Community Improvement & Capacity Building, Education, Preschools, Primary & Elementary Schools, Youth Community Service Clubs
Mission: Rain of Hope creates caring communities through community service learning programs that are exciting and fun for all ages – from 3 to 103! With a focus on building and teaching communities that we are all connected, Rain of Hope’s programs empower individuals through age-appropriate community service projects and lessons that develop social skills.
Results: Rain of Hope works with 185 students each week, helping them develop the social, emotional and leadership skills needed to change the world. Our programs engage college students, adults and senior citizens who support our programs and help students understand the importance of building inter-generational relationships. Through our Community Matters workshops, Rain of Hope works with over 20 New Haven Public Middle Schools guiding student leaders on how to effectively create, implement, and assess advocacy projects that they deem important.
Target demographics: Communities work together & empower themseves!
Direct beneficiaries per year: over 250 students, over 20 senior citizens and 15 college students
Geographic areas served: Greater New Haven area
Programs: In-school and after school educational programs, and workshops for youth and adults focused on building community.
