Causes: Education, Educational Services
Mission: Our mission is to educate members and the public in the history and art of quilting.
Programs: Our guild has many actiivies during the year. On a monthly basis we have our chairman reports, classes signups, fat quarter drawings, gift bag drawings, blotto blocks, 50/50 drawing, a guild lending library, opportunity quilt ticket sales, show and tell, and refreshments. Other activities during the year include a christmas luncheon, quilt retreat, field trips, fabric strip exchanges, lectures, trunk shows, classes, all sew days, and charity workshops. We have national and internationaly known instructors come to our guild to lecture and teach so that we can continue to grow and flourish. Our major fundraiser of the year is the latidah luncheon. It consists of a quilt show, silent auction, basketmania, boutique, hand-crafted greeting cards, thread sales, quilt challenge event, and door prizes. Also, at the luncheon the drawing is held for our donation quilt of the year. Proceeds from donation quilt tickets are donated to a local community charitable organization. This year it went to habitat for humanity at veterans village. Throughout the year we donate our charity quilts locally and nationally, we have provided quilts to the world's largest baby shower, haven, children's advocacy program, lake county sheriff and forward paths which is a foundation to help children coming out of the foster care system and others. We are currently donating quilts to the quilts of valor program where we are giving locally to veterans from the vietnam war and even wwii veterans. We are bringing many of these quilts into nursing homes where some of these men and women reside and we have presentations at our guild meetings. We also give a generous donation of cash and canned goods to the leesburg food bank every year. This year we have also given to the forward paths in leesburg and the methodist church in clermont. Over the last 17 years we have grown into a guild that is active in supporting many charitable organizations, donating quilts to guardian ad litum, our police for needy victims, hospice and many more.
