Programs: Quwf continues to lead the nation in wildlife habitat seed distributed to private and public landowners, planted to provide a wildlife food source. This seed is provided at transportation cost only and is not for ag or crop use. The value of seed shipped in 2017 was 400,000 and was planted and impacted 30,700 acres. Since 2010, the quwf seed program has delivered 152 tractor trailer loads worth 4. 6 million dollars over 20 states, affecting 6 million acres for wildlife. Cumulative value of seed at accepted conservation rates of 20 per acre is 9. 4 million since 2010. quwf is the only national organization executing a restocking effort for a native wild species of ruffed grouse in missouri beginning in august of 2018. In 2017, nearly 1,000,000 dollars has been spent by the chapter and 100 quwf grouse coop members and the national office over a 10 year period to prepare 100,000 acres of forest land for the restocking effort. A match of 1,000,000 has also been spent by the missouri department of conservation on public lands. Private investment by members also has exceeded the 2 million dollar mark, making it one of the largest restocking efforts in the country. The entire project will affect nearly 1. 8 million acres adjacent to the project area. The entire effort projects a 25 year window of proper habitat for the restocking effort and greatly increases the habitat quality of deer, turkey, rabbits, squirrels, doves and hundreds of species of song birds.
quwf in central oregon, has used its business model for the last 5 years to work 500 acres of blm lands for the restoration of water, plants, shrubs, and other wildlife food sources with a yearly volunteer force of nearly 50 people spending 3 days in a remote area at a volunteer rate of nearly 21,000 dollars per year. This year piping was installed to bring critical water to the project area, 5,000 trees were planted affecting and benefiting the populations of elk, mule deer, chukar, pheasant, mountain quail and more. The value of the restoration project per year is nearly 100,000 with a toasl investment by the chapter and members of over 500,000.
