Mission: PVRA, founded in 1970, provides public service communications throughout Southern New England through FCC-licensed volunteers known as Amateur Radio Operators aka "Hams". These services are available 24/7 for both routine and emergency needs of the public. Our 5 network repeaters cover hundreds of square miles on several different radio frequencies throughout Southern New England.
Programs: West-Con traffic net. Operates a seven day a week network allowing hams to pass message/traffic thru for Military service men and women on active duty. Traffic Net-Coverage. The repeater network is focused on the main travel corridors of I-95, I-84, I-91 to provide reception coverage for traffic updates & emergencies. "EOP". Emergency Operation Procedures Plan. PVRA provides communications for area governments an hospitals practicing EOP plans. "Hartford Marathon". PVRA provides route coordinate & race communications for the marathon. Our volunteers station corners, operate coordination centers & provide equipment to monitor progress thru RF & Digital relay with Packet & GPS location technology.
