Mission: As a non-profit organization, project main street, inc. (pmst) champions human needs through radically inclusive partnerships, community hubs, and social enterprises. Job opportunities: to create and provide job opportunities for citizens reentering the community from incarceration and/or substance abuse treatment. Job training: to provide employment/soft skills training for citizens reentering the community from incarceration and/or substance abuse treatment.
Programs: Project main street, inc. Created job opportunities and job training by using the sparta restaurant as a job creation and job training proving ground that built capacity and encouraged new social entrepreneurs. Beginning in july 2015 project main street transitioned from a support role at the sparta restaurant to an ownership role. Project main street owned and operated the coffeeshop/restaurant through september 2016 when it was deterimined not financially sustainable. The sparta restaurant offered employment to individuals returning to public life after incarceration. It also offered a venue for meetings and suppport groups assisting with transition and other local outreach. The 2017 activity was related to wrapping up activities.
