Causes: International, International Peace & Security
Mission: Assist in creating personal/world peace.
Programs: Education, general/other: just prior to the end of year 2007 we began a community garden in cooperation with the city of hoquiam, washington. Its purpose was to help create peace through bringing people together with a common interest. The garden prospered and succeeded beyond anyone's expectations with over 200 people involved by the end of the summer 2008. Our policy is not to do things but to facilitate them, so we were able to turn over the garden to the city for the 2009 growing season - again a very successful operation. The goal of the whole garden experience was to become involved in the community, gain credibility and identify people who wanted to make things happen - we succeeded at this. The garden was a continued success in the summer of 2009. The garden's original two-year life was extended by the hoquiam city council for three more years to continue on the same location under city auspices. The garden continues to be a success, bringing in new people every year.
education, general/other: our current project is creating a community cyber newspaper consisting only of good news about the grays harbor washington area. Work began on the website in november 2008. Major development and site design occurred through february 2009. The site was launched on february 9, 2009 as the community cyber news (thecommunitycybernews. Com). The project has been a mixed success with over 50 contributors and almost a thousand postings since its start in 2009. We are unsure how many people we have had an impact on. However, we are not able to hand the project off to others as we had hoped and the number of contributors has dwindled with ourselves doing most of the work. We moved the foundation to silver city, new mexico for a new start in june, 2010. We had planned to terminate the site at the end of august, 2010. Instead we have continued to maintain the site daily to maintain our positive search status. In spite of the limited success in grays harbor, we feel we have learned much from the experience and have a mature site to use in the future with little or no development allowing for a quick start. We are continuing to look for a new location receptive to this idea.
we continue to keep the foundation site active and up-to-date at www. Princesofpeace. Org to keep our web presence, message and philosophy available to the public.
