Mission: Providing charitable and educational services to american indian communities. A systems of care approach, which include outdoor adolescent and adult encampments, equine interventions and other direct services. Conference organization and social worker training provided.
Programs: Bia outreach project:project with bureau of indian affairs, rocky mountain reginal office inlcudes two phases: family first initiative and a native american youth leadership conference. 1. Coordinated materials and on site training services with bia social workers and support staff on intervention and substance abuse impacted families. Journal provided for each impacted family and goal setting materials/support.
secfs:this is a long term project in which pretty shield will assist in two main areas:1. They will provide training to secfs agency staff who work with troubled aborginal youth who are in care of the agency. 2. They will provide additonal training to our youth support workers who provide cultural immersion camps for children and families served by our agency. Pretty shield will provide consultation, advice and training to their therapeutic foster care program staff and foster parents in winnipeg and the surrounding area. They will also visit a youth ranch in st anne, manitoba to review a cultural immersion camp project and assess the equine assisted learning project plans.
access to recovery - establish intervention and prevention services for indian adults and older adolescents that were in the process of recovery from substance abuse.
