The mission of Powering Potential is to create future possibilities for children in rural areas. By providing solar power, a computer and a curriculum, coupled with on the ground teacher - training, it impacts the lives of children. Children are our future, education is a basic right, access to computers creates enormous opportunities for children. We love it, serve it and grow it continuously.
I have been a board member of Powering Potential for the past 5 years. Powering potential is a simple, high impact organization that makes a very direct impact on many many lives by installing solar powered computer labs in schools that could not otherwise have them due to lack of reliable electricity. The installation is done by a dedicated local Tanzanian team with years of experience who make sure the labs are installed well and maintained. We have done for over ten years and it is simple, high impactful, and beneficial year after year after year.
Powering Potential is a lean organization which installs low cost solar-powered computer labs primarily in remote villages in Tanzania. With limited access to books (let alone computers), these labs provide students the opportunity to learn the curriculum outside of the classroom. In addition, the computers make lectures more engaging. Some of the students are boarding at the schools to make best use of the computer labs to ensure they are keeping pace and mastering the curriculum. This is part of the solution to empowering a generation to overcome the barriers to advancing through secondary education, providing students the skills to break the poverty cycle and pursue their dreams.
