Programs: School programs - each year, pvas provides area schools with special programs intended to increase children's understanding and appreciation of the natural world. Most of these programs are offered for grades pre k-6. In all during the 2016-2017 school year, more than 4,563 students from 28 different schools participated in these programs.
camp programs - pvas operates a nature-oriented day camp for area children at its yankauer nature preserve near shepherdstown, wv and at the peter burr farm. About 200 different children are enrolled annually.
nature preserve operations - pvas co-manages two nature preserves with the nature conservancy. In addition to housing a summer day camp, the 104-acre yankauer preserve is also used for school programs. The other preserve, called eidolon, is in morgan co. , wv. It was opened in the spring of 2007 and hosts 5 miles of trails and an open-air cabin/shelter. During 2011 pvas obtained, by way of gift, stauffer's marsh which will be used as a preserve, bird sanctuary and for wetland education. Pvas also operates a nature preserve at cool spring which was received in september 2016, by way of gift.
youth programs - pvas provides a variety of programs for area youth including preschool programs, family hikes, and library partnership programs. Total expenses 33,860, grants 2,000 and revenue 2208. Adult programs - the organization provides various programs and activities for adults including lectures, workshops, field trips, and a master naturalist program. Total expenses 20,110, grants 0 and revenue 9,703.
