Mission: PCOS is a severely under-recognized condition which effects an estimated 4-7% of all women and can lead to serious illnesses such as diabetes and heart disease. The PCOSA, also known as PCOSupport, was born of a group of women who found each other on internet discussion boards. Officially formed in May 1997, the PCOSA is primarily volunteer-based. Programs include educational events such as conferences and regional seminars, peer support through online forums and local chapters and public awareness through media including features on Dateline NBC and in Woman's Day magazine.
