I am honored to be a part of such an amazing non-profit organization. From an idea more than 10 years ago, the Pocono Avian Research Center has grown into an organization that appreciates birds native to the Poconos. With the amazing array of programs from Project Owlnet to Bluebird Nestbox to their Annual Dinner, Pocono Avian Research Center is an organization everyone should be involved in!
The Pocono Avian Research Center is involved in a variety of bird research throughout the year. All of their research studies tke place in the Pocono Mountains of northeastern PA. In the fall their primary research is about the northern saw-wet owl which is a tiny owl that migrates through this region. All of the research sites are open to the public and they are visited by over 200 families each year. This is a truly unique program for many of the aduts and children who come out late at night to experience the owl migration. What an exceptiional educational moment.
