Mission: The Pleasant Lane Missionary Baptist Church was established in 1966 and set apart as a Baptist organization by the Unity Progressive Baptist Association in May 1968. Located in a historic district on Capitol Hill in the nation's capitol (Washington, DC), Pleasant Lane is housed in building built in 1863 by freed slaves. This building consists of a five hundred seat sanctuary, a fellowship hall, a baptism pool, a full service kitchen, restrooms, four classrooms on the ground level and a three story office and education building which was attached in the 1960's. Under the leadership and guidance of the Rev. Dr. John D. Chaplin, Pleasant Lane has grown into a worship center, an educational facility and a community outreach service organization providing services to the less fortunate and those in need. Our mission is to continue to provide services for tbe homeless, the hungry, the under-educated and the less fortunate in our society.l
Programs: Pleasant Lane has established community programs who's sole mission is to be a valuable resource to the underprivileged in our society.
