Causes: Civil Rights, Family Planning, Health, Reproductive Health Care, Reproductive Rights
Mission: To actively promote reproductive health and responsible sexual behavior through the provision of comprehensive high quality education, counseling and medical services. We support the availability of these services for all, including individuals whose access to other sources of help is limited. We promote public policy and understanding that supports reproductive health and family planning.
Programs: Our services include a full range of options for pregnancy prevention and birth control as well as routine gynecological exams and pap smears, screening for high blood pressure, anemia, diabetes, and sexually transmitted infections. A significant proportion of delaware women rely on subsidized services for their family planning care. In fiscal year 2016, planned parenthood of delaware served over 13,000 clients, 65% of whom were at below 150% of poverty each year. We see increasing numbers of patients who are either uninsured or underinsured although costs continue to escalate and the challenge to provide affordable care is increasingly more difficult. We do not turn anyone away due to lack of funds.
