Mission: To help restore and maintain land and green assets by providing professionally skilled crews who can assist in environmental management
Programs: Working closely with a coalition of public and private agencies as well as a network of greenspace and workforce development experts, landforce recruits, trains, educates, employs and supports traditionally hard to employ adults including those with limited income and education levels, homelessness, or those who are formerly incarcerated and/or military veterans. In 2017, landforce delivered 316 hours of personalized career coaching and logged 2,284 hours of soft and hard skills training. 92% of (13 out of 14) crew members completed their terms, and 93% (12) of the finishers had job offers by the end of the month they left landforce. In addition, 82% reported increased confidence, 100% felt they learned how to apply new skills to projects, 91% now understand employer expectations and learned new skills, and 82% learned punctuality. Landforce worked on 38 distinct projects, with 15 clients across 15 different neighborhoods / municipalities, constructing or maintaining: 127,000 feet of trail, more than 48 vacant lots, 8 green infrastructure projects, and 6 habitat restoration projects.
