The pinellas talking book library is administered locally through the pinellas public library cooperative, inc. It is a free service to residents of all ages who are unable to read standard print material due to visual, physical or learning disabilities whether permanent or temporary. The pinellas talking book library provides recorded, braille and large-print books and magazines as well as a collection of descriptive videos and playaways.
the deaf literacy center is a countywide library-based adult literacy program for deaf and hard- of-hearing adults and their families. This program is a service of the pinellas public library cooperative, inc. Which serves the communities in pinellas county, florida by providing coordinated administrative services for member libraries. The deaf literacy center program began as a response to the need to provide quality library services to the local deaf community. This effort received a 2001 library services and technology act (lsta) grant exemplary project award. The program then expanded into a countywide program with four additional sites that also provide deaf adult basic and computer literacy, signed storytimes, special workshops and presenters, sign language classes and book discussions for the deaf.
