I can not begin to express the gratitude that I have for the Piggyback foundation. Our lives were turned upside down Sept 2008, our youngest son was 6 weeks old our older son was only 3. My husband, literally the strongest man I have ever known, was diagnosed with cancer. This defining moment changed my life forever. I do believe Piggyback foundation was introduced to us a couple years later, sometime 2011. By 2011, we were exhausted, mentally, physically, emotionally, and financially. When fighting cancer with a loved one, everything in life is focused on survival, cancer, treatments, and appointments, although we tried to keep some normalcy in our home for our children, there was nothing normal about it. Piggyback foundation came in and helped with some of the normalcy for our children. They helped by offering us opportunities for family time to create memories. The foundation had partnered with a local professional photographer and we were able to have family portraits taken that are my most treasured gift. They gave us gifts for local spa for relaxation. I do believe they gave us Cedar Point passes, zoo passes, and I distinctly remember them helping us with expenses for a family trip to see relatives in North Carolina. It has been so long ago now that I can not fully remember all the support but it was more than I could ever imagined. I am forever grateful, as these times were my husband's last days and we did not know it. We would not have had the resources or the forethought to create these memories if not for the Piggyback Foundation. My husband took his last worldly breath on April 2, 2012. I don't know who will read this, if anyone, but the last picture is recent because if you are in the boat we were in many years ago, I remember the fear, desperation, and darkness. There is light on the other side, no matter the outcome of your journey. It may not be the outcome you envisioned or even the one you want but you can make through the darkness and create the life you desire, it will just be different and that is okay.

The Piggyback Foundation helped my family maintain the normalcy for our children while I battled breast cancer. They focused on family and creating memories. They were amazing.
Now I am proud to say that I am a working board member for this awesome foundation.

The Piggyback Foundation is the most responsive and least obtrusive organization I have ever been blessed to interact with. They supported our family through a battle with leukemia and I have witnessed their support of many others. They are truly a charity that reaches others.

I began my relationship with the Piggyback Foundation by simply contributing, sometimes money, sometimes in fundraisers, sometimes by making a meal for a family. I observed from the fringes the amazing work and the amazing people that this organization represents and I deeply wanted to be a part of it. I joined the PBF board and have been privileged to be a small part of this organization. I have the best of all worlds: I get to witness the generosity of people of all walks and ages who believe in trying to offer joy in the face of pain and sadness; and I get to see this generosity turn in to hope, joy, fun, memories, and opportunities for those experiencing pain and sadness and sometimes despair. When this world weighs on my heart, when I wonder what everything is coming to, I volunteer at When Pigs Fly and see the donations roll in, or work at fundraising and feel the love and support of the generous surrounding communities and people, or touch base with one of the families I represent and let them know that they are loved and supported and find out how we can help them. This grounds me in what is real again - faith, hope, love, family, community. I am truly humbled to able to participate in the Piggyback Foundation.

The piggyback foundation is so amazing and helped our family maintain some type or normalcy in such a difficult time. My contact was so amazing such a sweet lady and still contacts me even though our time is up with them. I am so blessed and thankful to have them in our lives while in the fight of my life!

This organization really cares. They’ve touched the lives of so many over the years and brought cheer and normalcy to families in great need. They run two or three really nice retail locations that find the charity as well

Our journey with The Piggyback Foundation started when I was diagnosed with breast cancer in July, 2013 at age 43, and continued when our 8 year old son was diagnosed with leukemia in March, 2015. Everything they did for our family was truly extraordinary. They were instrumental in keeping life normal, positive and upbeat while I was sick, which in turn gave us all the strength we needed, with them still by our side, to tackle our son’s illness and treatment. We couldn’t have done it all without them. We are so blessed to have such amazing, caring and selfless people in our lives. Their support for our physical, financial, emotional and spiritual well-being was life-changing and we are eternally grateful.

In 2014, my niece passed away after fighting brain cancer for several years. The Piggyback Foundation was there to help her and her two teenage daughters. One of the most memorable things the foundation did was to provide them with a family vacation that enabled them to get away and forget their troubles for a few days. My niece is my inspiration to volunteer weekly at When Pigs Fly (charitable resale store that funds the Piggyback Foundation). There is no better feeling than to give my time to this amazing charity.

The Piggyback Foundation is an amazing group of people! When my daughter was going through chemo, they offered all kinds of assistance to us. They were with us every step of the way. When my mother passed away unexpectedly, they were able to get a local lawyer to help with her estate as I was trying to do that, work two jobs, and take care of my daughter. They were an absolute Godsend! Always dropping by goodies, checking on us, always there when we needed something! When my daughter lost her battle with cancer, they even gave me a little trip away with friends to get away for a day. They will always have a special place in my heart and I will never forget the kindness they showed me! I give back to them as often as I can so they can keep doing the wonderful things they do!

This group started with the idea that when a family member is seriously ill the entire family experiences that illness. Looking at the needs of all family members helps retain a sense of normalcy. I have been both a donor and a customer at the 2 local shops run by the Piggyback Foundation. The amount of time and energy the volunteers put forth to raise money for the foundation is impressive, and the love and care they show is beyond measure. I am proud to know them. It is a very worthwhile foundation and has helped so many families in the greater Norwalk area.
