Mission: PSAR is an all-volunteer emergency services organization that provides highly specialized resources, including personnel and gear, for lost person emergencies. PSAR is requested by local police or fire agencies confronting a search emergency through the Virginia Department of Emergency Management and/or the Appalachian Search and Rescue Conference. In addition to emergency response, PSAR also offers educational programs designed to decrease the occurrence and severity of lost person incidents.
