Mission: The mission of the Metropolitan Washington Chapter for Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays is to promote the health and well-being of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender persons, their families, and friends through support to cope with an adverse society, education to enlighten an ill-informed public, and advocacy to end discrimination and to secure equal civil rights. PFLAG provides opportunity for dialogue about sexual orientation and acts to create a society that is healthy and respectful of human diversity.
Programs: PFLAG of Metro DC offers support groups and a helpline to support families in the coming out process; provides educational community programs as well as speakers for businesses, government, schools, and nonprofit organizations to educate participants about gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people and their families, and conducts non-partisan advocacy.
