Nonprofit Overview

Mission: People of Life is the pro-life action campaign of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. Our mission is to activate the Church, its people, and its institutions to defend life through a 4-pronged program of prayer and worship, public education and information, public policy efforts, and pastoral care. The program, first outlined in 1975 by the U.S. bishops in their Pastoral Plan for Pro-Life Activities continues to serve as our model for building a culture of life in this nation. Each of us has been tasked by Pope John Paul II to help build a “great campaign in support of life.” Our tools are education, advocacy, information, media, prayers, and the strength of tens of thousands who speak with one voice: We are committed to stopping the intentional destruction of human life!

Please know that this is for Christ the Divine Teacher Catholic Academy - a PreK-8th grade catholic school in Pittsburgh. It is not for the USCCB (there was some confusion because our number is a subset of their number). My children attend this school and it is wonderful place with a lot of heart. The administration, teachers and parents all work very hard for the school and believe in it's mission.

When the Catholic Bishops lobby congress not to provide health care services for women they should have their 501(c)3 taken away from them.

When I began my job as staff, I was not very aware of the good work done by the USCCB Secretariat of Pro-Life Activities. This job requires knowing and passing along all of the incredible ways that we help spread the bishops' message that each and every human life is precious and should be protected from the moment of conception until natural death. Over the years, I have become more amazed at how much the work done by this talented staff of 8 is behind so much of what goes in to promote and celebrate life in this country. It's an honor to be part of such an amazing team. I hope you will learn more about People of Life by going to the web site.
