Until I became a Board member at PAl, I took our wonderful library for granted. Now I can tell you that behind the scenes we have an amazing group of indivuals who keep our library in the forefront of libraries in Westmoreland County. There is so much available to our community and if you are like me, a visit to our library will bring you back again and again..
Our Penn Area Library has served me well throughout the many years I have used it's resources. When I didn't have the internet at home, or stopped newspaper delivery, needed reference materials, or copies of documents printed, the library was there for me. The librarians and volunteers have been consistently helpful and friendly. As the years passed and my needs altered, this wonderful community resource has continued to evolve and provide intellectual stimulation and camaraderie. We residents of Penn Township are fortunate to have our great library.
Penn Area Library is where my children grew up loving to read and enjoy the children services. As they got older the library became a school resource for them and great place to socialize with peers. During those years I enjoyed the wide variety of books available. So much so that I volunteered weekly helping the staff. It's a friendly and welcoming environment.
The Penn Area Library is an efficiently run organization that caters to its patrons needs. Service is friendly and personal. Staff will go out of their way to find the item(s) you need. Programs and services have expanded over the last few years and serve a wide range of the community from infants (baby lap sit) to adults (various reading programs). The library is a real community gem. It gives Penn Township a focal point, serving all ages and needs.
