Causes: Philanthropy, Private Grantmaking Foundations
Mission: Provide educational opportunities; life, leadership & entrepreneurial skills; health promotion, family strengthening & environmental stewardship to residents of southeast mi with an emphasis on youth.
Programs: Mentored and coached 38 young ladies that range from 14-18 years old. This program included a camping trip, a trip to washington dc to visit the national museum of african american history, and a formal ball. The girls met monthly, completed service projects and had one informal fundraiser. Graduating girls are awarded a book stipend and income generated from a ball ad book.
provided 11 scholarships ranging from $500 - $1000 to high school students based on an application, a 1 page essay and recommendations from teachers and staff. All scholarship recipients were acknowledged at a formal dinner along with their family members and the foundation members.
mentored and tutored 6 at-risk girls between the 8th and the 12th grade. This program included a weekend camping event to help the girls get to bond with each other and their mentors.
