I will say that adopting from them is easy but if you are anyone who has ever had to surrender an animal…they are terrible!! I had gotten our 2 cats from there and had them for many years. For circumstances obviously out of our control, or I obviously wouldn’t have surrendered them, I contacted the rescue to start the process for them to have the cats return. At no point did they tell me they couldn’t take them back so I didn’t look into other rescue options. I have never had to surrender a pet before and this was absolutely devastating to begin with. But to find out that one of those beloved cats passed away was even more devastating! But to top it off…I was told that it was due to a broken heart and I was the one who gave up on them. I can’t even imagine telling someone that?!!!!! I will never adopt, help rescue, donate, or suggest these folks to anyone ever again!! I can tell you that by them telling me that skiddish cats aren’t wanted..my other cat will end up dying there too! I absolutely adored my cats and for a rescue center to make me feel like I killed them myself by leaving them is disgusting!!
My experience with PAWS was very enjoyable. Their caring volunteers are helpful and professional, making my adoption of Caico (AKA Boomer) a smooth transaction. I love that they come to your home for a meet-and-greet to make sure the new home is a safe home for the animal. I definitely recommend them for pet adoption.
The ladies who runs this rescue are GREAT. They go above and beyond with their rescue work. Even though they don’t have a building like many rescues in other counties, they will try their very best to find fosters or space for an animal in need. They recently rescued 26 havanese and 2 frenchies and worked hard to find foster homes for all of them. None of them get paid a dime to do this. They are based off of donations and fundraisers but with COVID, they have been limited to that. This is a great rescue and has also educated myself too. I use to not believe in Heartworm preventions and testings in young dogs and believe they are for senior dogs. They have taught me otherwise. PAWS IS THE BEST!!!
PAWS seems to be an excellent organization. We got Wilby, our beautiful new dog, from them. He’s housebroken, friendly, has been neutered, has his shots and is a wonderful addition to our family. The people I dealt with were friendly, knowledgeable and made sure we knew everything we needed to know before we adopted him. Thumbs up to this terrific bunch! Without them, Wilby (formerly known as Dingo) would be in a cage at a kill shelter. Instead, he’s happy, healthy and loved. Yay!
Love this group! Working for animal abuse awareness and the fundametal teaching and educating the community I have seen awesome changes in Adams County IN with this group!!!
