Causes: Mental Health, Substance Abuse Prevention
Mission: To educate the public regarding law enforcement issues, including protection from unlawful activities and preventative measures. This activity is conducted at various times throughout the year by volunteers from the sheriff's office. To make presentations to school-age children and young adults about how to make good decisions regarding acceptable activities, drug awareness and avoidance and acceptable behavior to include anger management. To promote public awareness of law enforcement issues through education and dissemination of information.
Programs: Provided financial assistance to volunteer youth organizations which educated young people about the dangers of substance abuse, how to make good decisions, the importance of laws regarding substance abuse, and traffic laws. Provided financial assistance to the florida sheriff's youth ranch for their use in housing and educating at-risk young people to provide them with a positive reinforcement of acceptable lawful behavior. Held a bicycle rodeo to teach young people about traffic laws and proper vehicular operation. Purchased items for the pasco county sheriff's office for use in law enforcement and life saving activities, including a police dog and equipment, defibrillators for use in emergency situations.
