Causes: Education, Secondary & High Schools
Mission: Park school is a small private school dedicated to creating a community of engaged and empowered young people in grades 8-12. The school provides an excellent environment for students who struggle with emotional issues, or simply thrive in an environment that is safe, small in numbers and provides a flexible instructional environment.
Programs: The school provides a single program service--educational classroom training for students in grades 8-12. During the fiscal year ended 6/30/2017, the school; achieved the following accomplishments: - developed a partnership with a notable virtual high school offering our small school access to over 60 courses to help our students develop a sense of diverse learning. -for the first time the school sent a student to represent the hugh o'brian youth leadership conference. We were the only private school in the charlottesville area to be represented. -the school integrated the carol dweck growth mindset program into our curriculum. All our staff is either certified or being certified in the growth mindset model. -students completed over 350 hours of community service last year. Many of these hours were outside of school, but as a small community our students really stepped up to the challenge. -in fy 2017, five park school students were invited by different organizations in the community to complete internships. Our students spent time immersed in professions of interest including, mcguffey art center, monticello animal hospital, and blue ridge outdoors. The school completed a number of administrative enhancements during fiscal 2017, including implementation of quickbooks for accounting and reporting, and establishment of a formal conflict of interest policy.
