I firt heard about PanAmerican last year when I heard Juana Santos talk about the school and what she did. At first I just donated money for their annual Xmas presnet fund; I was impressed that food in the baskets could help feed a family for 2 weeks.
Then I went down for graduation and had the experience of how poor people were in Tijuana and how much the school did for the kids. By this time my Charity was approved, so I gave lots of school supplies and kitchen items and food.
Interesting thing I found out about was thecolor of backpacks; you see I bought all these pink and orange and green backpaks...only to find out that those are gang colors and the kids wear uniforms they are not hassled by police and wear black and blue backpaks so they don't get hassled by gangs.
My lesson for this is that when giving I have to be very specific about what is needed.
